Fishing here in SWFL is getting ready to take off.  Bait has shown up on some of the beaches and near shore wrecks with the warmer water temps.  It has been another very cold winter pushing fish deep into the backcountry.  Here is Tom with a spotted seatrout that he caught using a gulp jig setup.  The jacks, snook, redfish, and tarpon should all be improving this week with warm temps and great bait.  If you're looking to get out on the water contact me soon as my schedule is filling up fast.  Capt. Fishing has been in full swing with snook, redfish and trout being the main players.  Here in Don with a beautiful 35 inch snook using a pilchard.  I've been focusing on the outgoing tides in the morning along the passes and beaches from Naples to Marco Island.  The cooler water temps have fired up the redfish and the abundance of baitfish has made for lots of action.  The NE winds have been keeping the beach calm for those that like to target snook and reds on the beaches.  Time to get out and fish before the winter cold fronts start changing the game.

January has started out with cold fronts and some cold water fishing.  This time of year it's been a trout, sheepshead and snapper game.  The morning low tides have help target these fish in deep troughs and channels in the backcountry.  I've been using lots of jigs with gulps, gotcha twisters and bucktails tipped with shrimp.  For the live bait fisherman grabbing some shrimp and placing under a popping cork is a great method as well.  Here is Tom with a beautiful trout that was released to catch another day.  The forecast is looking alittle better to get out on the water next with with a front coming through early in the week.

It's that time of year when the fishing really starts to heat up.  The trout bite continues to pickup with the cooler water temps.  I love to use a 1/8 ounce jig with a zman fluke.  Look for these fish to be congregated in the deeper troughs in the bays with good water flow.  
The snook bite remains solid with some big girls moving into the back bays and creeks.  Bait for these bigger fish has been challenging with the latest cold front stirring up the gulf.  Never be afraid to chunk some lady fish or mullet if the bait fish are not available.  Look for an amazing week of fishing with the weather temps being perfect for fishing.

Summer fishing is in full swing and the big snook have been coming out to party.  This past month  has been absolutely on fire.  I love seeing anglers catch a fish of a life time.  The weather has been slipping into that summer pattern so be careful and pay attention to the weather.  Tarpon are roaming the beaches so get out early with some crabs to target these fish and beat the heat.  Bait can be found on the beaches for snook, trout and redfish.  For the fly fisherman stop down and checkout the new Mangrove Outfitters and pickup some LightBulbs.  The snook can't resist them!
And for those looking for a great recipe here is some blackened redfish over jasmine rice, bell peppers and topped with a habanero pineapple salsa.  A great recipe to try with any of Dilly's Seafood fish that he has down at Mike's Bait House on Friday's along with some amazing smoked sandwiches by Mike&Roan!

It has definitely been a very crazy season with all the weather ups and downs here in SWFL.  It has been a very productive season meeting lots of great guest new and old.  I'm looking forward to some exciting things to come.  I will be catching up on adding everyones fishing pictures and amazing fish recipes to the website.  
Fishing here has started to heat up with big tarpon roaming the beaches feeding on crabs and big threads.  Big snook and trout are roaming the beaches from Gordons Pass to 10,000 Islands enjoying the pilchards I've been catching early in the mornings.  The redfish bite has been good on the end of the incoming tide but as with all my charters if the fish are not biting it's time to move on.  It looks like we are going to be starting our summer pattern soon with the thunderstorms building in the afternoons so pay attention to your apps as to not get caught in the storms.   Here is Tom with a beautiful 35 and Jim with a 37 inch snook.  Jim's recipe for his 30 inch snook is a nice panko encrusted snook with Capers and diced tomatoes served with calamari olives.

Fishing here in SWFL has been fantastic with lots of snook, trout, pompano and permit kicking off the season.  With the continuing cold front pushing through and water temps starting to drop look for these fish to move into the backcountry.  Focus on areas with deep troughs as that as that will be where you will find these fish holding up.  using bucktail jigs tipped with shrimp, 1/4oz jigs with 3 inch Gulp Shrimp we be your best baits of choice.  Stop into Mike's Bait House and grab some of these jigs tied by Capt. Roan to help improve your catches this time of year.  Pilchards are still around but remember as the water drops into the 60's it's time to start switching up the game.   Look for conditions to be good over the next weeks so water temps should climb back into the mid 70's heating up the snook and redfish bite.

A great week of fishing here in SWFL.  The snook bite has been on fire with lots of medium sized snook crushing pilchards.  The beaches and passes have been awesome spots to target these fish.  Along with snook bite  the mangrove snappers have been very hungry.  I've found the redfish bite to again be alittle better on the end of the incoming tide and start of the outgoing.  We are approaching a great time of year here in SWFL so get out and do some fishing.  Here is Mike and his son  Miles from Mike's Bait House putting a smackdown on the snook and redfish.

Hope everyone had a great July 4th and is preparing for alittle week of bad weather.  Fishing in SWFL has been fantastic with snook, tarpon and redfish roaming the beaches from Doctors Pass to 10,000 Islands.  Large schools of small baitfish can be seen near the beaches with schools of fishing working them first thing in the morning.  For those artificial guys this is the perfect time of you to get out and throw some top water baits for those monster explosions.   Get out early to beat the heat and also the thunderstorms.  We also have some great charity fishing tournaments coming up that everyone should participate in.  July 9th-10th is the 1st Annual Captain Colby's Memorial Tournament and July 16th-17th is the Gone Fishing For Sean Hurley Inaugural Tournament.  Hope to see everyone supporting these events.

Fishing here in SWFL has been heating up as warmer water temps are increasing the anglers action.  Bait is still plentiful and a snook will not pass up the opportunity to eat one.  I've been focusing on the end of the incoming tide for redfish and snook.  The falling tide as been producing lots of snook and jack action.  The upcoming forecast is going to depend on how strong the next front will be coming in this Sunday but once through look for things to continue to improve quickly.  Tarpon should be showing up soon on the beaches and passes.  Here is Tom with one spectacular trout caught and released for another day.  Time to go fishing.  Capt.
