Fishing here in Naples has been improving fast with the increasing water temps. The water temp in the backcountry has hit 76degrees. Snook, Trout, Jacks and Redfish have all been chasing pilchards. Bait has been showing up in good numbers and look for birds to be chasing bait balls up and down the beach. I've been using the new Fins 40g line and it is being put through the test lined up on the Okuma Azore 4000 and the 7312 Cousins Rods. I've been targeting snook and trout on the lower stages of the tide with redfish on the higher end of the incoming tide. Here is Heidi with one of many snook and also a beautiful trout caught using live bait. Look for conditions to get a little breezy over the weekend but next weeks weather should bring more great catches.

Fishing this week has ended on a positive note. Strong full moon tides have created some very low tides be careful out there. Bait has been making a good comeback and the snook are loving them. If you do get a chance and want to change up the pace a little bit throw some flies in the back country for some good snook action. Sheepshead and trout can still be targeted using shrimp and jigs and look for redfish on the higher stages of the tides. The water should be warming this week to make for some great conditions.
Capt. Joey Benko This weeks fishing has been fantastic with trout being the main catches. Water temps have stayed relatively cool 65-68degrees making fish a little hesitant to chase down a fast moving pilchard. Shrimp and Jigs have been the best producer for these tasty fish. Check into Mike's Bait House for Capt. Roan's special jigs. Look for weather to keep water temps climbing which will trigger an improvement in the Snook and Redfish bite.
Capt. Joey Benko This weeks fishing has been challenging with the arrival of some pretty good cold fronts. Shrimp and jigs are the best bets for catching fish. Trout, sheepshead and lots of ladyfish have been keeping anglers busy. With more fronts on the way look for water temps to get cooler. Here is Tom Bennek with some beautiful spotted seatrout from this weeks trips.
January has been a great month for fishing here in SWFL. Snook have been enjoying the warmer temps along with redfish and trout. Tripletail have been short in numbers but big in size offshore. Playing the tide is key to finding the fish. Look for trout on the outgoing tide using jigs (Mikes Bait House specials) tipped with shrimp and also pilchards with a split shot on the bottom. Trout will be holding in troughs and deep holes with grass on the bottom. Snook have been in the passes and have been blasting pilchards. Redfish have been tough to find but spending some time stalking a gin clear shoreline will produce but be Patient. Look for things to change as the weekends weather is going to bring in a cold front.
