This weeks fishing has been challenging with the arrival of some pretty good cold fronts. Shrimp and jigs are the best bets for catching fish. Trout, sheepshead and lots of ladyfish have been keeping anglers busy. With more fronts on the way look for water temps to get cooler. Here is Tom Bennek with some beautiful spotted seatrout from this weeks trips.

![]() January has been a great month for fishing here in SWFL. Snook have been enjoying the warmer temps along with redfish and trout. Tripletail have been short in numbers but big in size offshore. Playing the tide is key to finding the fish. Look for trout on the outgoing tide using jigs (Mikes Bait House specials) tipped with shrimp and also pilchards with a split shot on the bottom. Trout will be holding in troughs and deep holes with grass on the bottom. Snook have been in the passes and have been blasting pilchards. Redfish have been tough to find but spending some time stalking a gin clear shoreline will produce but be Patient. Look for things to change as the weekends weather is going to bring in a cold front. Bust out and Catch a Big One. |
