This weeks fishing has been fantastic. Trout, Pompano, Snook and Redfish have been the major players this time of year. Look for Pompano to be in the passes using jigs tipped with shrimp and trout to be taking up residence on the various grass pockets chasing a pilchard. Most of my success this week has been focusing on clean water at the end of the outgoing tide and the start of the incoming. Bait is still very plentiful on the gulf but be careful because the conditions have been up and down all week. Above are a couple of good catches from this weeks action.

Fishing in our area has seen a change from snook and redfish to trout and pompano. Pompano can be found in the passes using pink jigs tipped with shrimp like the one here from Mikes Bait House. The trout bite has been very good on the outgoing tide using pilchards free lined with a 3/0 circle hook or try adding a little split shot for best results. Snook are around but seem to be a little lazy when it comes to chasing a bait. Water temps have dipped down to the lower 70's warming to mid 70's during the day. With some good day ahead look for the bite to pick back up before next weeks cold front. Here is little Luca Musico practicing some good catch and release fishing for trout.
