With the big tropical storm Alberto dumping heavy rains on the area. Don't be afraid to change up your game plan and throw some artificial baits to catch some beautiful line siders. Snook have been moving in the passes and beaches. Live target baits such as the thread / mullet style are great baits to use. Also look to spool techs for a great swim bait to catch snook and tarpon. For the live bait guys big shrimp and mullet will probably be the best baits to use until the seas calm enough to get out and catch some fresh bait.
I got a chance to get a line wet with a great friend the other day and found this beautiful snook relaxing on some timber and she wasn't shy in taking a pilchard down. Capt. Joey Benko Naples Inshore Fishing Guide Fishing has been challenging with a really bad weather pattern. Be cautions on the water when it comes to thunder and lightning. Snook and trout have been the major players in our area. Look for these fish to be in the passes and on the beaches. I've been using pilchards with a 3/8oz split shot with a 3/0 owner circle hook. Hopefully we can get out of this weather system and back to some warm hot days soon.
Capt. Joey Benko Naples Backwater Fishing Charters This weeks fishing should continue to improve with better tides later in the week. Look for pilchards and green backs to be on the beaches. Strong winds out of the east have helped push the red tide out of Naples. This weekends trips I didn't see any dead fish floating around the back bays and the pilchards stayed strong in the live well. Snook, Redfish, and Trout have been putting up a good battle for my anglers this past week. Here is some recent photos from the 2018 Gene Doyle Tournament. Tough conditions made for tough fishing but Tom Benek and Luca Musico scored some really nice fish.
Capt. Joey Inshore Fishing Charters in Naples, FL Fishing this week is improving with the passing of a major front. The water is still dirty but cleaning and warming more and more everyday. Snook and tarpon are roaming the beaches and passes. Look for conditions to improve as we move into the weekend. Here is Tom and Carol with a pair of beautiful redfish caught using pilchards with a 3/0 Kahle hook. Focus on the last part of the incoming and the start of the outgoing for best results.
Capt. Joey Benko Naples Inshore & Backcountry Fishing Charters This weeks fishing has been challenging with water temps hitting the lower to mid 70"s. Bait fish are around it's just finding the fish to eat them. Here is a personal best for Molly Hamman with a 37 inch snook. That day provided some great catches from big jacks, redfish, trout and snook. With water temps on the rise look for fishing to continue to improve. Baits of choice range from pilchards to shrimp. Don't be afraid to continue the winter time pattern of jigs tipped with shrimp. But as the saying goes "You don't know if you don't Go".

This weeks fishing has been fantastic. Trout, Pompano, Snook and Redfish have been the major players this time of year. Look for Pompano to be in the passes using jigs tipped with shrimp and trout to be taking up residence on the various grass pockets chasing a pilchard. Most of my success this week has been focusing on clean water at the end of the outgoing tide and the start of the incoming. Bait is still very plentiful on the gulf but be careful because the conditions have been up and down all week. Above are a couple of good catches from this weeks action.
