July fishing has been very hot with lots of action on the beaches and inland bays. Snook can still be found in big numbers between Doctors Pass and Cape Romano. Look for these fish to be targeted using live baits, cut lady fish and topwater plugs. Redfish can still be found on the higher stages of the tide hanging very close to the cover. Baits of choice for targeting redfish will be pilchards using a split shot & 3/0 setup, 3inch gulps and also cut bait. These fish will be lurking in the shadows so be patient and let that bait hang out just under the mangroves. If your looking to chase tarpon I highly recommend getting out super early and running the beaches but with the recent west winds the gulf has been a little on the rough side. Here are some photos from this past weeks action with some beautiful snook being caught. Don't forget to take the same amount of effort to revive these fish after a good battle. Water temps have reached the 90's so the fish will need some extra attention when handling and releasing them. Hope everyone has a safe and exciting 4th of July. Capt.
